Meet the Team

The people behind Chamberlin Hall are what makes it the place it is.

History

Chamberlin Hall is a charity with a long established history in Bildeston.   It started as a snooker hall and social club in Duke Street, erected by returning servicemen in 1923, which later became the village hall in 1975. In 1995, the snooker hall and social club were superseded by a new construction Chamberlin Hall Community Centre, situated in Chamberlin Close.  The new facility was primarily financed by a gift from Kate Chamberlin. It was Kate’s wish to improve and enhance the community facilities for everyone in the village she loved so much.

Our Objectives

The Charity was established in 1979  and our constitution set’s out our charity’s objectives which are:
  • To provide the facility of a village hall and grounds for the use of the inhabitants of the parish of Bildeston and surrounding areas.
  • As such the village hall should seek to improve or enhance the conditions of life for those wishing to make use of it.
  • These facilities shall include the provision of spaces for educational or recreational purposes in the form of meetings, lectures, classes, physical or social activities.
  • The facilities are open to all, regardless of age, ability, gender, ethnicity, political or religious beliefs.
  • To raise sufficient funds to facilitate the above and to maintain the property.

Management Committee

Chamberlin Hall is run by a management committee comprising of Trustees and Committee members who are all volunteers.  Members of our local community also step in to help us maintain and run the activities we put on for the community.  We are really proud of our team and thankful for the commitment and time they give to running the Hall and the services and events we put on.
Over the last few years, the team have worked hard to develop the facilities – raising money and securing grants – to improve the facilities and make Chamberlin Hall as accessible and environmentally friendly as possible – this is an ongoing labour of love
